Recordings may have been made previously; the key requirement is that they are uploaded during the contest period.<\/li>\n<li>Include recordings of <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.grabandoaves.org\/en\/priority-species\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">at least three Caribbean priority species<\/a><\/strong> identified by the initiative.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Two prizes will be raffled among participants who meet the challenge criteria.The drawing will take place during <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.birdscaribbean.org\/2025\/10\/save-the-date-birdscaribbeans-25th-international-conference-23-27-july-2026\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">BirdsCaribbean\u2019s 25th International Conference<\/a><\/strong>, taking place <strong>23\u201327 July 2026 in Trinidad<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">The prize<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong>A BRAND NEW SOUND RECORDING KIT!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The kit includes a Zoom F1 recorder and field-friendly state-of-the-art shotgun microphone! Our eardrums are tingling just thinking of the crisp audio quality you can get with this fantastic combo.<\/p>\n<p><strong>TWO PRIZES WILL BE AWARDED!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>To qualify, please ensure:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Files are uncompressed files (WAV type)<\/li>\n<li>Each recording is longer than 10 seconds<\/li>\n<li>include at least some basic metadata, such as age\/sex (if known), additional species heard, behavior observed, equipment used, and any notable background sounds.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why bird sound recordings matter<\/h3>\n<p>Bird sound recordings are essential for understanding species distributions, and ecology.
